New York: In the footsteps of Carrie Bradshaw
Simona is a fashion fanatic who adores Sex and the City. Her husband Mirek knows that, so he decided to give her a special gift for her 30th birthday – he sent Simona and her friend Johana, who is similarly “afflicted”, for a trip to New York!
And since Mirek is not an expert on Sex and the City, he contacted our agency and asked us to help him plan a trip in the footsteps of Carrie Bradshaw. The task was clear. “Take the girls to places they know from the series and films and send them shopping. But please be careful with the latter, I want my wallet to survive the trip!” her likeable husband laughed. We also agreed that, as a bonus, the trip would be rounded off with a great surprise!
In New York, any fan of Carrie (and Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda, of course) will get dizzy as soon as they leave the hotel in the morning. Madison Avenue and Fifth Avenue with their luxury boutiques, galleries and restaurants, the quirky boutiques and vintage shops of the Lower East Side, Brooklyn's street markets…
First of all, Simona and Jana headed to Onieals Grand Street, also known as the Scout bar owned in the series by Carrie’s and Miranda’s ex-boyfriends, Aidan and Steve, where they had a couple of cosmopolitans in honour of their heroines. Then they visited the Public Library where Carrie was supposed to get married, took a photo in front of the Plaza hotel where she said farewell to Mr. Big before he left to marry Natasha, and then went to admire the jewellery in Tiffany & Co., where Charlotte chose her engagement ring.
In the days which followed, they managed to explore other locations associated with the famous series and its spin-off films – the Buddakan restaurant, the Two Boots pizzeria, boutiques on Bleecker Street, and much more. And, finally, the promised surprise came! On the last morning, Simona and Jana were picked up by a stylist who took them to boutiques not featured in any guidebooks, their locations kept a jealously guarded secret by local fashionistas. They concluded the “raid” in style in the store run by Patricia Field, the main designer from Sex and the City. “That was the most beautiful gift that Mirek could have ever planned! Jana and I had an incredible week,” gushed Simona after arriving home.
